I've known him longer, I love him best. It is low hanging fruit do you not think? And you're not keeping anything from him are you? At the end of the day do you not get to say that you convinced me to spill this secret? That you could never keep such a secret from your friend and your family member. Do not dress yourself up in moral dignity pants and tell me to defer to your judgement, you said that if I didn't tell him, then you would. If you are his family and I am nothing then it would have been simple enough to leave it alone, clearly that would have been all that he needed. This is not to say that I do not hope you are right, but I would not expect him to go easy on me and direct his anger at you. I'm not family I suppose that is something to keep in mind.

But yes, as we were saying- I am many kinds of a bastard, but this? Is not something lightly done. I only insisted that you tell him so I would not have to do so. Would I tell him? Yes. Eventually. When I found a good moment to do so- afterward he'd be more upset with both of us for saying nothing. This takes most of the weight out of my hands, but I am still at fault for saying nothing.
