It would be better for Cade to kill him, actually. There is a certain kind of closure one can only manage on their own.

Cade couldn't move or talk from the moment he appeared. And if he's alive, and he can move his fucking hands [ he mad ] and he's still at the Abbey, with children, then it isn't just about Cade.

Alistair. Members of the Inquisition cannot simply murder people without evidence. 'I saw a demon' is not evidence.
