Cyril finally comes a little closer. "I know that," he says, cautiously. "He does as well." The Keeper would have exiled Merrick because of his anger if Cyril hadn't have convinced her to do otherwise. He had solved that by convincing her to give Merrick something to do, something to keep his hands busy.
Then, after a moment, "It had been a trying time. We came here and we're spending more time staring slack jawed at each other than helping the Inquisition. That will change once things pick up and they give us things to do. He does better with something to focus on but they are grieving and need time to sort through what they need us to do. I want to ask the same of you; Time." He knows they aren't really close and he's not appealing to any sort of friendship here, it's more a favor than anything.
"Ignore him for now if you must. Once we have assignments, he'll focus on that and calm down. We changed our entire lives by coming here, that takes some time to settle into."
